Flashing (lights)
are all around
the world is tipping
or maybe,
I’m just spinning
I look down (and I’m
wearing unfamiliar
clothes) I can’t
recognize myself–
a stranger in my own skin
my hand grazes my face
and bringing up my
fingertips (for a better view)
I find them glistening
shimmery dust
(coats my body)
I twirl and whirl
I dance
and I sparkle
and yet I am
not myself –
I don’t remember
how I got to this place
I don’t remember
the dust on my face
or where I learned to
swish and sway
bumping to the music
my body moves
without owner
I find (I’ve relinquished
the reins)
I am not in control.
Despite (my movements
being not of my own)
I find myself –
lighter
I find my spirits
lifted
I am not my own,
my actions –
are not of my accord
never would
I find myself
without a care,
moving to the rhythm
my surroundings
unknown
I find,
It’s not troubling
I close my glittered eyes
and let out a sigh
I let myself
fully let go
and get taken
by the night.
