Clothes on man have existed for as long as there has been a man. Fur, cotton, threads, and silk have a history of covering mankind’s bodies for survival or to fit in the accepted norms of man. Each period and every era has its own signature looks with discrete meanings and intent. What transcended from being a necessity turned into a luxury, expression of identity and form of art. Note that fashion did not exist until long after the creation of clothes.

Clothes were invented by man for the body, but for man, fashion was born.

For what seems to be an untraceable concept, fashion is not. Articulate, sacred, and precision are the virtues that makeup fashion. We do not allow slob, hast, or any inadequate work. The minute details are not the critical attention that we put into work, but the essence of WHEN we push fashion to take up time and space. Concepts, styles, and trends exist and are pursued only during limited frames. We allow proper time for what was created to be appreciated until we readily embrace new ideas in the future. Fashion relies on time to prosper. The season to make it all happen is spring.

Oh, Spring Fashion.

Every prominent fashion and entertainment industry figure knows how vital fashion and spring are. But why does spring hold the pinnacle of fashion? The season across nations represents the symbol of rebirth and starting anew. Therefore, it becomes a crucial time for new showcases of art to prosper and grow. One way we host these showcases is through fashion runways. Art takes place in all walks of life and only exists when executed correctly.

A lot of intense history, inventions, and experiences are scattered across Fashion Week's origin. Even now, we see repetitive troupes dating back to the very beginning. One of the troupes is American fashion vs. French fashion. Back in the mid-1900s, the competition was very heated. In an attempt to promote American fashion, a publicist by the name of Elanor Lambert coined the term “Fashion Press Week.” This initially became the idea of gathering shows in a timely, consolidated manner instead of having mass collections of shows spread everywhere. Spring fashion became more stable with an established time, place, and audience. Interestingly enough, London later used the term “Fashion Week” in the late 1900s.

Oh, spring, she sings the same tune every year, but every year, I yearn for them more than the one before.

But luckily, spring lasts more than just a mere week. Because of that, spring opens more space than just for the runway. Other significant events and venues also occur during our lovely season. The Oscars, the Grammys, and the notorious Met Gala anchor many looks, designs, models, and stylists from across the world. Even if the initial intentions are not for fashion, the concepts and visions still appear. Every look on every individual becomes a canvas. Even the public will make commentaries on who is wearing who and how well they carry out the look. More than people realize, fashion surrounds all parts of the entertainment industry. And we get to thank Spring for it all. Spring, who makes it all worthwhile.

Perhaps when the season comes back around, you will keep a closer eye on everything you see during spring.

I am already anticipating your return.

So, whether you are doing your annual spring cleaning, watching celebrities walk the red carpet on TV, or you, yourself, explore and experiment with whatever pieces of clothes you find in your closet, take the time to enjoy what you are living in. You might not always get to do what you love but learn to love what you do during these times. Spring grants us the opportunity to appreciate these aspects of life. More than just a season to date, more occurs than we realize or appreciate.

This is a love letter to spring, our summer’s eve.
